Harry Potter World at Universal Studios

  • I went last July, after it had only been open for a few weeks. I kept hearing horror stories about the long lines, but it really wasn't that bad. The shops and the wand experience were the most crowded/had the longest waits (for the shops they could only hold a certain capacity and let people in little by little). I would recommend going to the HP park first thing when the park opens and then going to the rest of the park after -- that's what we did. Usually if you say you're a "single rider" (meaning you and your friends wouldn't sit together) you can skip most of the line for the rides. I wouldn't recommend doing that for the Hogwarts ride, since in line you get to go through the castle and there's lots to look at. We waited in that line for about 45 mins, but I honestly wouldn't have minded waiting even longer since there was so much cool stuff to see at Hogwarts (it's really detailed). We skipped the line the second time we rode, though. Definitely get Butterbeer! The frozen kind was really tasty. We had lunch at the Hog's Head pub, which was a bit pricey, but it was fun having pumpkin juice along with my fish and chips. I'm happy to go on and on about how much fun it was.
  • My college-age daughter and one of her friends went over Christmas break - they are major HP fans, and they LOVED it.
