I have known a few people to use Stanley Satterfield. They all thought he was great. My sister used
James McDonald and really liked him.
I recommend Dr. Satterfield, he did my surgery: I never had any pain at all even though he gave me pain
medication, plus he called me at home to see how I was doing and it was not a recording.
I have also gone to Stanley Satterfield; I was so appalled by the very prominent right-wing political paraphernalia
in his waiting room that had I not had an actual emergency, I would have left. I mention this because some may
not wish to spend their healthcare dollar with a provider who supports this type of agenda. I don't, which is
why I sought another oral surgeon.
I'm not sure if I was on the PPO or HMO at the time I used Satterfield to remove my son's wisdom teeth. He did a fine
job and there were no complications. I think the insurance didn't cover it all. I seem to recall paying $500 for my
share of the surgery. Anywho, my only complaint was that they piped in contemporary Christian music into the room as
he was recovering. I'm not a fan of music praising God written after the 1800's, so that was certainly the most unpleasant
part of the ordeal for me. Don't get me wrong; I'm not opposed to the good doctor proclaiming his faith. I just would have
preferred it turned off.
I had a small oral surgery on my gums with Satterfield on my HMO insurance. The insurance covered it, no problem. My experience was
okay. The waiting room was nice, the assisting nurse kindly, the wait long, the paper work long, the surgery itself seemed fine. I was
real groggy afterward. I don't remember any particular pain and no teeth were damaged or broken. (You have to sign a form accepting the
possibility.) I found that using Neem oil (the one for internal use, leaf extract) from Earth Fare accelerated the healing process.
My sister used James McDonald and really liked him.
Dr. Manus is in with McDonald and has seen both of my children and my husband. He's wonderful and does take HMO. Both my kids were able to
have their wisdom teeth extracted at almost no cost to me, if the teeth are impacted HMO pays 100%.
My son went to Dr. McDonald & Manus this past year to have his wisdom teeth cut out. Dr. McDonald did his surgery, I really liked him. My son
did have complications about 6 months (yes 6 months) after from an infection but I don't blame the Dr. They went back in and drained the
area and gave him antibiotics and cleared it up. We did see Dr. Manus on a follow up visit and I didn't like him as well -- just a matter
of preference. Their office staff was nice, helpful, knowledgeable, etc...I was sent a bill b/c of a billing error between medical and
dental and they ended up writing it off so I didn't have to pay. Their main surgical office is in Athens (at the corner of Prince and Chase)
but he has offices in Commerce and Winder so it was convenient for me to see him in Commerce as well.
