- The seafood restaurant in Rayle is called Off the Hook...and it is excellent. It is only open Thursday,
Friday and Saturday nights. And... I highly recommend.
It's called "Seafood Off the Hook" -- I haven't been there, but my parents have and another person I know has
and they all say it is good and relatively cheap.
Bootys Fish Lodge in Royston is AMAZING!!!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one who will recommend this either!!!!!
(please note, you were!) - buffet style mostly fried foods
- Gnat's Landing on Baxter.
Gnat's Landing here in Athens has the best seafood in Athens.
Probably not what you are looking for, but the Bread Basket on Chase Street has a very good fried fish lunch on Fridays.
It's just a hole in the wall, though, but the line starts forming early!
There is an excellent seafood restaurant in Hartwell now. Williams Seafood. Highly recommend. These people owned a seafood
restaurant on the Ga. Coast for 20 years - moved here to be nearer their children. All kinds of seafood. Very reasonably
priced. If you go into Hartwell on Hwy. 29, when you reach the railroad tracks, turn left. It's just down the road on the
right, across what used to be the Monroe plant.
- The red house located between jefferson and commerce. I think it is off of highway 334. I know when you are driving up 441
towards commerce once you pass the elementary school there will be a traffic light and there is a gas station on the right,
at the light turn left and go down this road about 6-7 miles and redd house will be on the right up on a hill. They are
only open friday and saturday for the seafood and sunday for down home cooking. Excellent seafood.
They offer a variety of seafood items. Some fried, backed, steam. It is buffet style and they have vegetables and dessert on the bar.
They even have crab legs on the bar and I think you pay extra for those.
How far are you willing to drive? Have you heard of the Runway Fish House in Baldwin, GA? It's about an hour from Athens, but well
worth the trip. We go there often. It's only open on Friday and Saturday for seafood. We love it. I'm not really sure if they
have anything grilled, baked or steamed. I know they have boiled shrimp. If you are interested in going you might just give them
a call before. They also have ribs, chicken, BBQ.
I keep the Runway Fish Camp (Baldwin, GA) phone # in my phone. - 706-776-1238 . (Speaks for itself
Last Resort, downtown has lovely seafood every now and then and DePalma's on the East Side is great.
