Recommendations for Tire Alignment (2010)

two lists

The majority of replies recommended Whelchel's Wheel Alignment on West Broad Street.

I also had great recommendations for the following:

University Tire
Porterfield Tire

  • Porterfield Tire on Mitchell Bridge RD. Bill and Troy are very good to deal with...

I thought of Porterfield, but they may be too expensive.

I just bought new tires and had an alignment at Porterfield on Mitchell Bridge Road. My daughter uses them too.

  • I don't trust anyone but Whelchel's to do the job right.

Absolutely Whelchel....on Broad Street...if I remember right, just before Red Lobster.
    Great service and very reasonable.

    Whelchel Alignment & Brakes. 1920 W Broad St Athens GA 30606-3542. 706-543-8144

Whelchel alignment. If your car is not out they don't charge you.

I've always used Whelchel. Never had any problems.

  • That's what my hubby's done his whole life and is the tire specialist at University Tire.
  • I recommend Snow Tire. They do a good job. They're downtown at the corner of Hancock Ave. and Pulaski St.
  • I've been thinking to use Five Star on the Macon Highway. They have 2 buildings now, one is the original and
doesn't do tire alignments but the new one does. I think the new one on the south side of Macon highway is
run by a brother of one of the original owners in the building on the north side of the highway. I've had
repairs done at Five Star mechanics (the original) and like them okay. Seems like they're honest and fair
priced and do a decent job. But they're always real busy.
  • I love love love the guys at Tires Plus at College Station. Talk to Kenny he takes good care of all of us
    (and always has a coupon!).
  • DO NOT GO TO PRECISION TUNE. It will cost at least twice what they tell you it is going to cost.
  • I have been going to Bulldog Tire on Mitchell Bridge Road for years. They have always been quick, polite, and honest
    - another place told me I needed four new tires, but when I left my car with them they called and told me I only
    needed two.
  • If you happen to be going to Tanger Outlets, Pritchett Tire is good and fast. Open until noon on Saturdays. But get there
early if you take it in on Saturday.
